EMPOWERMENT
By equipping scholars with practical skill, from public speaking and project management to digital literacy, we empower them to take control of their careers and futures. They gain the confidence and competence to not just seek jobs, but to create them.
INNOVATION
We teach our scholars to be innovators themselves. The "Community Project" element of the Gap Year challenges them to identify a real-world problem in their community and design and implement a creative solution. This fosters a mindset of proactive problem-solving, not passive learning.
FUTURE
We are building a future where our graduates are not only employed but become leaders in their fields, breaking the cycle of poverty for themselves and their families. By investing in these bright minds, we are investing in Uganda’s future. Our alumni network is growing into a powerful force: ethical, innovative, and socially conscious leaders shaping a more prosperous and equitable nation.
From starting up to stretching out"
We capture the entire journey of our impact, from a single intervention to a lifelong legacy of change. The “starting up” is our initial, focused investment where we ignite a student’s potential through high school sponsorship and our transformative Gap Year program, building the foundational skills and confidence they need to thrive. From there, our scholars begin to “stretch out,” growing into leaders and innovators who extend their influence deep into their communities and professions. They become the powerful, long-term ripple effect of our work, ultimately reaching back as alumni to mentor the next generation and ensure that one opportunity creates a self-sustaining cycle of empowerment for the future of Uganda.
About Our Work
Twero Innovation Academy empowers highly motivated but disadvantaged young people in Uganda to become social changemakers and leaders through a unique, holistic educational program.
They tackle the critical challenge of high youth unemployment and limited educational opportunities in Uganda, one of the world’s youngest countries. Their goal is not just to help students get a degree, but to develop them into innovative leaders who can solve problems in their communities and shape their country’s future.
Twero Innovation Academy provides a complete pathway, from starting up to stretching out, that transforms a single scholar’s life into a lasting legacy of positive change for their family, their community, and Uganda.
Our Cycle
Everything begins with a "start up." For us, this is the crucial moment we invest in a talented young person who lacks only the means, not the motivation. We provide the foundational support, a high school education and our transformative Gap Year program that ignites the spark within them. In this phase, we build the essential skills, confidence, and vision they need to succeed.
